Acupuncture treatments helps facilitate the return of your own ability to heal from within. When we are healthy, our bodies can respond to signs beckoning us to heal or return to balance, but when we are chronically or habitually out of balance, we may not notice these same signs. This is where acupuncture can assist your body: by stimulating the necessary systems of your body to do the healing.

Traditional Chinese Medicine’s approach

Like a western GP or Family Doctor, a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (DTCM), is trained in an equally comprehensive and in-depth approach to health. The main difference is the kind of study. In the west, doctors approach health through symptomatic treatment and scientific research. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) approaches the human body from an energetic and functional standpoint. It views a human body as a whole system, made of energetic, physical, emotional and spiritual parts. These parts are intimately related. Human beings could be viewed as miniature replicas of nature – a living entity of nature no more superior to a lion. No more superior to a tree.

Acupuncture is one of several therapeutic techniques used in Traditional Chinese Medicine

It is based on its own complete system of anatomy, physiology and diagnosis where the vital energy, referred to as Qi, flow through different meridians in our body. It involves the insertion of fine needles into the body at specific points. This stimulates the body’s natural ability to heal by having the correct flow of Qi.
